How We Advance Education Facility Design

Over WSKF Architects’ five decades of work on K-12 and college campuses and building a broad portfolio of work has remained a core area of our practice. We have been recognized for design expertise across the full range of education facility needs. That includes classrooms and other learning environments, libraries, labs and other specialized facilities, student centers, dining and kitchen facilities, indoor and outdoor sports and campus recreation facilities, office and administrative functions, campus space planning and master planning, interior renovations, large scale facility assessments and campus wayfinding and signage. Principals Dalyn Novak and Doug Boe co-lead this work for our firm.

Listening is at the Center of How We Work

Education is always evolving to meet today’s education and training demands – curriculums, campus strategic plans, academic program priorities, student success, student life experience, integration of technology in education and other factors. No two districts or campuses are alike in how they meet those demands or their needs. That’s why we are constantly working to raise the bar in design and expanding our knowledge and expertise. Our process begins with something seemingly simple: listening. We seek input.  “In our planning and design process we focus on meaningful engagement of district and campus leaders and a range of other stakeholders who include faculty, staff, students, operational and facility staff and others. Getting their feedback and ensuring their input guides us is at the center of how we work,” explains Dalyn Novak, principal and co-leader of our higher education design team.

Designing Education Facilities of Enduring Value

District and campus leaders served by WSKF Architects will tell you we consistently deliver superior design solutions, the highest quality construction documents and completed facilities tailored to their individual district/campus and operational needs. Clients see the tangible benefits: highly flexible and functional educational spaces, facilities that support broader priorities, district/campus community satisfaction, low maintenance and long-term durability.  Today school districts and college campuses and the communities they serve require forward-thinking design. That’s why we continue to introduce design break throughs as part of broader efforts to address the challenges facing educational institutions.
WSKF Architects’ design for the Park University Plaster Center met leaders’ challenge to the design team for a facility that blends a more modern look and feel on a historic campus founded in 1875.
