Our Leadership
Rick Kuhl has more than 35 years’ experience in the architectural profession and has been part of the WSKF Architects staff and leadership for 20 years. He has led much of our work on fire stations and public safety facilities including the development of many of our related innovative design strategies. Other areas of depth include senior care facilities, higher education and a range of private commercial facilities. He brings a designer’s sense of creativity and a business owner’s thinking about practicality to each project. He is active in the Knights of Columbus and a variety of other community and business organizations. He adds his voice to those cheering on the Nebraska Cornhuskers and he serves as a lector at his parish. For more information, visit our Public Safety portfolio.
John E. Freshnock has practiced architecture for 30 years and has been part of the WSKF Architects staff and leadership since 1996. He leads our work on churches. Other areas of depth include higher education facilities, hospitality and a range of commercial projects. He produces highly detailed designs and excels at finding creative solutions to clients’ facility needs and goals. He is active in Rotary in Kansas City, Kan., and has served as a local leader in Boy Scouts including troop and council leadership roles, camp sessions at H. Roe Bartle and fundraising. Dalyn Novak has been a key member of WSKF Architects staff for 16 years since graduating from Kansas State University. She joined our leadership team as a principal in late 2019. She has played a critical role in building our expertise in public safety facilities acting as a project architect and project manager prior to becoming a principal. She collaborates with Rick Kuhl in leading our public safety and senior care design work. Other areas of depth include higher education and commercial projects. She is active and has served in leadership roles in Rotary as well as other local community boards. She has served to advance the architectural profession through the National Council of Architectural Registration Boards for multiple years. In her spare time, you can find her living the country life and helping her husband tend to their honeybees also serving as marketing and sales for First Creek Honey in the Kansas City Northland. Doug Boe brings principal-level experience in all levels of project development, planning, programming, design, and construction administration across a body of work that is widely varying in scope and scale. His strengths include project management, developing creative design solutions, and interaction with owners, contractors, and the full range of design consultants. He has excellent technical qualifications which complement an innate sense of creativity in the design of aesthetically attractive, architecturally functional solutions. He believes that a collaborative approach to project delivery is the key to project success. His career includes work as a project architect and project manager followed by a 20-years as a principal at his previous firm before joining WSKF in 2017. Doug is a proud graduate of North Dakota State University and a supporter of Bison Athletics. When not at work, Doug enjoys woodworking and being a handyman. Vince Magers is our marketing director. He joined our leadership as a principal along with Dalyn Novak in late 2019. For the past 10 years he has led our marketing and communications with responsibility for client interaction and branding across online, print and other touch points. He brings great passion and doggedness to telling the story of WSKF Architects, our work and our people. He represents our firm in a wide range of community and business organizations. He volunteers his time and talent for a variety of organizations and causes in metro Kansas City. He has supported local youth soccer for 20 years as well as Sporting KC. He also does his part to sustain KC’s long heritage of live music.
