Tom Thomas Law Enforcement Center

Tucked tightly between the existing Courthouse and County Administration building, this facility links the entire government complex through the convenience of an enclosed “mall.” A single high-security checkpoint is centralized for all three buildings. Outdated jail facilities were relocated from the Courthouse into a state-of-the-art detention center. The project includes 139 detention beds, 12 work release beds and planning for expanding detention beds. Sheriff’s offices are located on the top entry level of the new facility. Great care was taken to preserve the symbolism of the historic Courthouse and Town Square. The project was completed in collaboration with SFS Architects.
