Nevada Police & Courts Facility

WSKF Architects was commissioned as the public safety architect in 2012 to complete a needs assessment and space needs study for this community with a population of 8,300. The existing facility had grown outdated, undersized and in deteriorating condition. The study included an existing facility review and determination of how the facility complies with current and emerging police facility needs. WSKF worked closely with City and Department leaders to balance their facility needs and budget. The resulting facility provides a modern and secure facility to meet the community’s police needs. The facility is attached to the existing City Hall and is designed to complement its look and materials. The facility includes a sallyport, intake and processing area, holding area, interview space, evidence processing and storage, lab, armory, investigations unit and administrative space. The design integrates a municipal courtroom that seats 60 and doubles as City Council chambers. Judge’s chambers and space for the court staff is also included. The facility provides modernized work environments for police and court staff, safe and secure transfer and processing of suspects, and improved space to interact with crime victims. All in a new facility designed to serve Nevada and its residents for decades to come.
