Smithville Area Fire Protection District Station

The Fire District commissioned WSKF Architects to design a prototype station that could efficiently be adapted to two different sites under consideration by District leaders. WSKF took District leaders through our interactive process to confirm their needs and vision for the stations. Based on that work, our Fire Station design team created a program that included two apparatus bays, bunk space for six, kitchen and dayroom, fitness area, offices and other support spaces in the residential portion of the station. The bay designs are tailored to the district’s apparatus needs and include gear storage and other functions. We developed a cost estimate and variety of graphics for use by the district. The design includes a number of sustainability features including a solar array and a ground source heat pump system to help reduce operational costs.
