Gamber Center

Responding to the changes occurring in Lee’s Summit’s population and seeking to address emerging senior center design trends were two of the central design challenges for WSKF. Our design team worked with the Senior Board of Lee’s Summit and senior center directors in providing specially designed space for fitness, recreation, dancing, learning, dining and social gatherings. What make the Gamber Center innovative is how it better balances the needs of seniors without disregarding the needs of other age groups. For the City of Lee’s Summit and the greater community of users, the Gamber Center has become a central gathering place that adds measurably to their quality of life. The center’s widely varying programs include yoga to zumba, other fitness programs to meet the needs of all ages, classes on everything from digital cameras to Chinese brush painting, and health screenings. WSKF’s design accommodates them all in highly functional and flexible space. The center was recognized with a Bronze Award in the 2010 Design Excellence Awards in Kansas City.
