Newcomer’s White Chapel Funeral Home

When Newcomer’s White Chapel decided to replace their funeral chapel in the growing Northland of Kansas City, they turned to WSKF Architects to lead the design team. Our team engaged leaders and staff from the local chapel and parent company Service Corporation International to create a distinct chapel meeting the needs of the community and SCI corporate standards and best practices. The result is a 12,052-square-foot chapel. WSKF’s team designed a low-profile building with exposed timber and stone on the exterior and dormers to ensure the chapel’s look and feel fit nicely in this well-established neighborhood.

Families meet staff in a group of arrangement rooms in preparation for services in a chapel seating up to 150. The chapel also features a large hospitality/reception space with access to a patio with views out onto the cemetery grounds. The chapel space is outfitted with multi-media technology and projectors allowing families to fully celebrate the lives of their loved one in words and pictures. The interior design creates a soothing environment for families and loved ones. Space for support functions include a preparation room and offices.
