APEX Aero Center at Charles B. Wheeler Airport (MKC)

WSKF Architects is part of the development team led by Eastside
Innovation and Airside FBO, LLC to develop the final 20 acres of Kansas
City’s Downtown Airport (MKC).

Slated to open in 2027, this $55M investment will deliver more than
150,000 SF of premium hangar and office space designed to support
business aviation at the highest level.

The WSKF team led the design of the new large-jet hangars and the
state-of-the-art Apex Aero Center terminal building, positioning MKC as
a premier destination for corporate aviation that reflects innovation and
operational excellence.

The project includes large-jet hangars and an expanded Red Tail
Academy—strengthening pathways to aviation careers while fueling
economic growth for Kansas City.
