Our portfolio encompasses a diverse range of projects, including award-winning park master planning, playgrounds, pickleball and tennis courts, sports fields, community centers, pools, golf clubhouses, aquatic complexes, fountains, memorials, bike and pedestrian trails, and comprehensive needs planning.

Our expertise spans various recreational facilities:

• Multi-Use Sports Facilities: WSKF Architects recently designed a premier sports facility in Kansas City, KS called the Homefield KC Showcase Center. We collaborated with Populous as a design partner on the 150,000-square-foot facility, contributing to design development, construction documents, and construction administration for the building’s exterior. The center is designed to support basketball, volleyball, football academies, tournaments, training, and other sporting events, as well as a variety of corporate gatherings.

• Fieldhouses and Concession Buildings: Functional structures that support not just the players, but also creating a memorable experience for the guests attending the athletic events. WSKF Architects designed the 3,454-square-foot concessions and fieldhouse facility at Wyandotte Sporting Fields, incorporating restrooms, offices, referee check-in, equipment storage, and concessions. • Community and Senior Centers: Spaces designed to foster social interaction and lifelong learning. The Gamber Center in Lee’s Summit is a 19,608-square-foot flexible facility that serves both seniors and the broader community. Our work included full architectural services, from planning through design, to deliver multipurpose spaces for fitness, learning, and social activities, all tailored to support inclusive, multi-generational use.

   

• Recreational Complexes/Country Clubs: We work with clients on renovating their recreational facilities and additional amenities. Our partnership with The Village of Loch Lloyd includes updates and expansions to The Country Club’s recreational amenities. Our work includes an expanded fitness center, new indoor and outdoor pickleball courts, additional tennis courts, improvements to the pool, pool house, golf facilities, clubhouse, and other renovation projects. • Sports Field Complexes: WSKF is well-versed in designing multi-sport athletic fields that are meant to be played on year-round. One example is the Central Bank Sporting Complex. WSKF Architects helped design facilities and public areas throughout this high-profile sporting complex in Kansas City’s Northland. The development team was led by Sporting Kansas City in partnership with the City of Kansas City. • Master Planning and Design: Our experience with Park Master Planning includes comprehensive strategies that guide the development and sustainability of park systems. We did a Community Center Master Plan for the City of Smithville, MO where we broke the planning into phases and mapped out where each amenity will go.
