The Marriott flag had very product-conscious design criteria, which challenged the fit of their suburban "brand" into this 1960s office building. Despite the triangular building footprint, 80 percent of the units in this project match their stringent prototype standards. The existing office building core remained and became the storage and service areas on each floor. The street level lobby was just large enough for front desk operations. The dining and meeting rooms are located on the floor above. The two areas are connected by a monumental stair, which required cutting out a large area of the existing slab and structurally supporting the surrounding floors.
