Lee's Summit Fire Station No. 7/Training Center
LOCATIONLee's Summit, MO
SIZE15,800 Sq. Ft.
This facility combines a new satellite fire station with a fully integrated training center and tower. In partnership with Tactical Design, WSKF Architects designed a facility that houses a pumper and rescue unit and serves as a departmentwide training center. The station encompasses a 4,500-square-foot apparatus bay and 6,000 square feet of living and administrative space. A 1,300-square-foot classroom doubles as a backup communications center. The 4,000-square-foot "no burn" tower provides widely versatile and flexible training space for search and rescue, confined space rescue, repelling, stair tower/hose advancement -- all of which can be "smoked up" with theatrical smoke. The leading-edge training space is spread over three floors and the roof. Fire Chief magazine honored Station No. 7 as a Notable Design. The station gained national attention in 2010 when fire chiefs and other leaders from across the country toured the station as part of Fire Chief magazine's annual Station Style conference.
